Legal Methods Instructor
Professor Olavarria started her legal career in Los Angeles as an associate attorney at Crawford, Bacon, Bangs, and Briesemeister in 1991, practicing in the areas of construction law and general business litigation. Thereafter, she opened the Law Offices of Rebecca Olavarria, providing litigation and transactional services to small and medium-sized companies. Professor Olavarria served as of counsel to Los Angeles-area firms litigating wage and hour class action disputes. She also served as legal consultant to the Pomona Small Business Development Center, legal counsel to the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, and arbitrator for the Los Angeles County Bar Association Fee Dispute Arbitration Program.
Prior to joining the College of Law, Professor Olavarria taught law for the California State University at Los Angeles, the University of California at Irvine, Citrus College, and Mt. San Antonio College. She received tenure at Mt. San Antonio College in 2004 and became the director of its ABA-approved Paralegal Program in 2003. Professor Olavarria is licensed to practice law in California and Florida. She received a J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, an M.B.A. from the California State University at Dominguez Hills, and a B.A. in Spanish from the University of California at Los Angeles.
